I'm Just Like YouChances are you’re just like me; I’m just a normal dude in my 20’s who cares about my physique – both for aesthetic and health reasons. The only difference between you and I is that I’ve tried and failed many times (so you don’t have to).
In 2005, I left for OSU to study marketing. While the books expanded my brain, the Top Romen and Hamburger Helper also expanded my stomach and fat ass a bit. So I decided to do something about it. Along with studying marketing, I read and experimented with all of the best tricks for building a lean, muscular physique. T-Nation was my best friend. I’ve tried bulk up powders, N.O. pre-workout powders, and I’ve even experimented with pro-hormones (I was stupid, in college, and didn’t even have my diet dialed in - don't do it). As any veteran will tell you, I found that the best way to a lean physique is through diet; a healthy diet that fuels the body what it needs.
I focused in on my goals and ate pink salmon and clean carbs post workout and chicken stir-fry was an everyday staple – my roommates made fun of me a lot but I can make one hell of a stir-fry! I started cooking all my own meals and spent my time in the kitchen rather than the bar – my roommates hated me and I'm pretty sure still do to an extent - but the bar isn't an important part of my life - the gym, for many reasons, is. The Evolution of Paleo [Evolved]I continued to learn what foods worked best for me which obviously led to a higher protein, low carb diet. For a while, I followed something close to the anabolic diet and enjoyed it. The problem was all of the unhealthy meat and lack of other healthy foods like vegetables that I knew I should be eating.
This led to a paleo-style diet which worked great for me. I say paleo style because I don't follow a strict paleo plan. I like to break the rules and question authority! This is why I created Paleo Evolved. I knew that a strict paleo diet is great for health however I was working out regularly and the strict paleo diet wasn't cutting it. I loved my 6-pack but I didn't like my skinny legs. Through my studies, I knew that saturated fat from pasture animals and starch from potatoes are both great sources of fuel however both rejected in the strict paleo community. I decided I wasn't going to avoid potatoes simply because cavemen weren't doing it. That’s stupid. Paleo [Evolved] is all about choosing the best foods specifically for your needs to build the best you. Here at Paleo Evolved I wish to share with you the truth. Life is all about knowledge. Once you know, you won’t go back! |
