Merrell Bare Access 2
This Shoe Improved my Squats and Deadlift!

I've wanted a pair of minimalist shoes for a while now. 

You wouldn't catch me dead wearing those toe minimalist shoes, but with these stylish kicks I am able to rock them to the gym, on the trail, or even with casual wear. 

The whole idea with minimalist shoes is to get a natural feel, obviously. Supposedly this strengthens the leg muscles but can also help alleviate pain for some. Right on.

I don't really jog though. I go on hikes and these will be great for that, but mostly I wanted them for weight training.

Arnold always suggested performing the squat and deadlift (leg movements) barefoot and they even now sell weight training shoes.
Adidas has an actual "weight lifting" shoe shown in to the right, vs the Bare Access in charcoal.

Reebok even has a cross fit shoe that is actual pretty sick, I would wear them if somebody gave me a pair!

Why I Love the Bare Access 2

These are running shoes, but again, I loved them for the squat and deadlift. These shoes allowed me to really push my butt back and get my glutes activated. This is ideal for these two lifts. I was really able to stay on my heels while normal shoes would encourage me to lean forward.

Leaning forward is where most people fail at these lifts and that is the Number 1 reason I love this shoe.

Before I got the Bare Access 2 I was rocking some Nike 6.0 mid or high top (I really don't even know). I preferred those better than my other running shoes because the soles were flat. The problem was that the shoe was heavy.
