Cooking with Cast Iron | Paleo Chicken Thighs

Dry chicken sucks. This chicken doesn't.

Until recently, I've always been a huge BBQ fan. Growing up, I was never shown how to properly cook with oil and wasn't introduced to a cast iron pan until college.

Cooking with a cast iron pan is amazing because it's like grilling, frying, and baking all mixed into one.

Check out this easy recipe for paleo-style chicken thighs.

Squat Till You Puke!
I look at lifting weights and exercising the same way I look at my diet, I do what makes sense.

It doesn’t make sense to eat exactly like a caveman, but rather to mimic their habits and eat natural foods as they would have back in the day.

In a similar fashion, a paleo workout doesn’t mean you have to jump over rocks or climb trees to get the “perfect” exercise. When it comes down to science, the “perfect” workout is the one that will create an adaptive response in regards to cellular repair.

Paleo Protein Shake | Alkalizing Your Protein Shake

Alkalizing Your Protein Shake
So many paleo enthusiasts are skipping the protein shakes in an effort to live a healthier life. The idea is that whey protein is not “paleo” and thus shouldn't be consumed.

While this is a good start, if you are avoiding whey protein you are missing a huge opportunity to not only build lean muscle, but also burn unwanted body fat.

Lose Weight with this Hearty Paleo Lunch

This is my post workout meal. If you are attempting to lose weight, a single burger might be a better idea!

Paleo Burgers - 100% Grass Fed Beef
I eat so much beef it's not even funny. I eat beef (grass fed) like normal people eat chicken. Maybe more. I pretty much eat red meat every day. I also never do ab workouts and constantly maintain a six-pack. I let my food do the work for me.

New Seasons usually carries the 5% or 10% lean pasture beef which simply doesn't cut it for me. If you've been around Paleo Evolved much, you know how I encourage healthy fats - saturated included. Well with only 5% fat content I decided to add a little of my own.

I want to add some muscle this winter so in an effort to increase testosterone, I've increased my saturated fat content. This allowed me to add some fresh guac and uncured bacon to my burgers. I pre-mixed some garlic, salt, pepper, minced garlic and sliced onions in the burgers before throwing them onto the grill.

I've also never really eaten wild rice before. While I usually stick to white rice to avoid plant toxins, I can't accept the idea that brown rice and the added fiber is unhealthy. It's NOT something that I eat daily however. Maybe once a week...maybe.

Grilling Asparagus Secret! Stop killing yourself!!!

Too many people make the huge mistake of cooking with olive oil. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is very sensitive to heat and literally goes rancid at 350*F. This means that the oil oxidizes and creates free radicals which are known to lead to cancer. Save the olive oil for your salad.

A better oil to cook with is Avocado Oil. This healthy oil is stable up to 500*. Cook with this oil instead of Olive Oil PLEASE!

Paleo Pizza Recipe- Coconut Flour Pizza Crust

Paleo Style Coconut Flour Pizza
The Best Damn Gluten Free Pizza Period

Paleo Pizza - Coconut Flour Pizza Crust
Some days I just need some pizza!

That being said, obviously I am not down with spending $5 for Dominos take-out as my ass would shake for a week, although 5 bucks for multiple meals would be amazing (sometimes I envy my ignorant, out of shape friends).

I've tried cauliflower and almond flour Paleo Pizza Crust Pizzas, however this is my favorite hands down.

I got the crust recipe from Chris Shugart of T-Nation and made this with some leftover grass fed steak I had in the fridge. I like these paleo pizzas because they are high in calories for a refuel, however the calories are still relatively clean; meat and veggies.

Admittedly, there is a decent amount of cheese in this recipe. If dairy is an issue for you, I apologize!

With this site being focused on muscle growth, high caloric meals like this are great for off days! With this pizza you are going to get tons of both veggies and protein!

Here is the recipe!

Don't be "that" guy in the gym anymore
Use These 2 Simple Secrets to Fuel Muscle Growth For the Long Haul

It happens every day in the gym. The same people doing the same pointless exercises at the gym with no results. It’s actually impressive that these people have the dedication to continue week after week.

Simply going to the gym and performing 4 sets of 10 on the bench press and 20 more sets of various chest presses will work for a rookie, however gains like this are unsustainable.

In an effort to continually grow lean muscle, it’s important to understand why (not how) muscle is built.

Fuck Men’s Health. This is the truth – plain and simple;

Paleo Meals - Paleo Lunch Ideas

July 3 Paleo Lunch (Workout Day)

I figured I should start posting some examples of full meals that can be put together that fit within the Paleo Diet Meal Plan. This meal was lunch on a workout day. On days I workout, I reduce fat intake and bump up carbohydrates more than usual. This is for the extra fuel for my workout and to bump up my calories a bit.

Here you can see I added mashed sweet potatoes which some would argue this is not Paleo. What I would tell these people is "Hey, I am trying to add muscle, not lose weight -- worry about youself". I have a goal in mind (of adding more muscle) so I am fueling that to happen with carbs such as sweet potatoes and rice. That is what the Paleo Diet Evolved is all about; combining the Paleo Diet with our specific goals to gain the physique we want! It is a blueprint for success not the 10 Commandments.

Back to the point - the meat here is Grass Fed Flank Steak - the same meat used for the Paleo Pinwheels. Since the flank steak is grass fed, it has a good omega 3 to omega 6 ration.

I simply seasoned the meat and put it on the stove with some grass fed butter. The egg is poached (my favorite) and I topped it with a spinach salad. The dressing I created was Olive Oil, Basalmic Vinegar, Apple Cidar Vinegar, and a squeeze of Lemon - topped off with salt and pepper - then pour over salad.

Just like that - A Paleo Diet  Lunch Created!
