Cooking with Cast Iron | Paleo Chicken Thighs

Dry chicken sucks. This chicken doesn't.

Until recently, I've always been a huge BBQ fan. Growing up, I was never shown how to properly cook with oil and wasn't introduced to a cast iron pan until college.

Cooking with a cast iron pan is amazing because it's like grilling, frying, and baking all mixed into one.

Check out this easy recipe for paleo-style chicken thighs.

Paleo Protein Shake | Alkalizing Your Protein Shake

Alkalizing Your Protein Shake
So many paleo enthusiasts are skipping the protein shakes in an effort to live a healthier life. The idea is that whey protein is not “paleo” and thus shouldn't be consumed.

While this is a good start, if you are avoiding whey protein you are missing a huge opportunity to not only build lean muscle, but also burn unwanted body fat.

Chuck Roast On The BBQ - My Paleo Dinner From Monday Night

Grass Fed Beef on the Barby
My Experiment With BBQ'in A Chuck Roast

Grass Fed Chuck Roast
Most chuck roast recipes call for a crock pot/slow cooker. Well I'm a guy and I like to BBQ.

I had the day off and wanted to bust out the Traeger BBQ. If you don't know what that is, it's a pellet grill that allows for indirect heat at various temperatures, including smoke. It makes the best chicken in the world, hands down.

Anyway, I marinated the roast for 24 hours to try to get as much flavor as possible. Here is what I used for the marinade and how it turned out;

Lose Weight with this Hearty Paleo Lunch

This is my post workout meal. If you are attempting to lose weight, a single burger might be a better idea!

Paleo Burgers - 100% Grass Fed Beef
I eat so much beef it's not even funny. I eat beef (grass fed) like normal people eat chicken. Maybe more. I pretty much eat red meat every day. I also never do ab workouts and constantly maintain a six-pack. I let my food do the work for me.

New Seasons usually carries the 5% or 10% lean pasture beef which simply doesn't cut it for me. If you've been around Paleo Evolved much, you know how I encourage healthy fats - saturated included. Well with only 5% fat content I decided to add a little of my own.

I want to add some muscle this winter so in an effort to increase testosterone, I've increased my saturated fat content. This allowed me to add some fresh guac and uncured bacon to my burgers. I pre-mixed some garlic, salt, pepper, minced garlic and sliced onions in the burgers before throwing them onto the grill.

I've also never really eaten wild rice before. While I usually stick to white rice to avoid plant toxins, I can't accept the idea that brown rice and the added fiber is unhealthy. It's NOT something that I eat daily however. Maybe once a week...maybe.

Grilling Asparagus Secret! Stop killing yourself!!!

Too many people make the huge mistake of cooking with olive oil. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is very sensitive to heat and literally goes rancid at 350*F. This means that the oil oxidizes and creates free radicals which are known to lead to cancer. Save the olive oil for your salad.

A better oil to cook with is Avocado Oil. This healthy oil is stable up to 500*. Cook with this oil instead of Olive Oil PLEASE!

Pasture Raised Eggs Vs Conventional Eggs - Is it worth it?

Pasture Raised Eggs
Pasture Raised Vs. Conventional Eggs. Is it worth the extra $$?

Pasture Raised Chickens in Nature
I just spent $8 on a dozen of eggs. Crazy, I know. A few years ago I would have thought it was Ludacris. But now I know better.

Now I am beginning understand the pasture, where in nature cows and chickens have found a way to live in harmony in a sustainable fashion.

The reason I am happy to spend $8 on a carton of eggs is because I realize how beneficial true pasture raised eggs can be. Now I know that 1+1=3 is possible in nature when there is synergy involved.

Eggs that cost $1 or $2 dollars at the market simply won’t give you the same benefits because they are made from different nutrients themselves! If it weren't for pasture raised eggs, I wouldn't eat eggs at all.

Here’s why.

Build Muscle With Paleo Chili
Grass Fed Beef and A Ton of Veggies!

paleo chili recipe
The best way to go about paleo eating is to be prepared. Preparing meals ahead of time not only saves time but it also ensures we are feeding ourselves the right nutrients at the right time. It ensures we do not cheat!

I've been cooking chili with this recipe since I was in college. This was a great way for me to get a nutrient dense meal without spending too much money. I used to make it with beans but now usually omit them.

I love this chili because it's loaded with healthy protein, fat and tons of veggies. I can't think of a better way to sneak veggies into a diet than chili.

Here's how to make it!

Ground Chicken Stuffed Squash - Paleo Style!

sample paleo meal - chicken stuffed acorn squash
Ground Chicken Stuffed Acorn Squash
This Paleo dish is a great way to hide a huge portion of vegetables with Italian style chicken. The chicken and squash mix together perfectly and the nuts make for a great addition!

I got this idea last time I was at New Seasons Market. I was picking up some Wild Caught Salmon and was browsing the meat section.

This was simply mild Italian chicken sausage with pecans, added to the squash. Since this turned our BETTER than I anticipated, next time I will add chopped onions and garlic to improve the flavor...maybe peppers too.

Here is how I made it this time!

10 Tips To Save Money While Goin' Paleo

Paleo On a Budget
The truth is that the Paleo Diet does require spending more money at the grocery store than most people prefer to spend. I personally don't have a problem spending a few extra bucks knowing I am fueling my body with "premium" fuel, however this is something that most people will have to learn to overcome.

That being said, you don't have to be rich to follow the Paleo Diet and when done correctly, the Paleo Diet can even save you money!

           Beef...It's What's for Dinner!
5 Reasons to Eat Grassfed Beef for Building Lean Muscle

“We can't digest grass. So to take land that is not good enough for agriculture -- that's growing grass and nothing else, that's been doing that for 10,000 years since the buffalo -- and put a cow on it ... there's something beautiful about that, and it's just the way it was meant to be.” Michael Pollan.

As a Paleo dieter who throws around heavy weights, I can’t think of a more powerful food than grassfed beef. The news might tell you that red meat will lead to cancer and death but I’m here to show you how grassfed beef will actually fight cancer while building lean muscle!
