Paleo Shopping Trip - Todays Shopping List

My Paleo Shopping List
Minus The Dark Chocolate (With Almonds) That Got Eaten In The Car

I prefer to get what I can from Trader Joe's and my meat from New Seasons.
I might have a new favorite vegetable; Brussel Sprouts.

I've always hated brussel sprouts until recently, and my new favorite way to cook them comes from one of John Meadows' ideas.

John Meadows is a genius when it comes to diet and nutrition, and suggested squeezing fresh lemon juice on cooked sprouts.

Wow. I like to steam the brussel sprouts before slicing them into halves, followed by salt and pepper. Simple as that, perhaps the best brussel sprouts you've ever had!

Here's what was on the list;

Paleo Dinner Sample
Pasture Raised Lamb with Parsnips and Tators

sample paleo meal
I eat lamb and salmon at least once each week, and last night was my lamb night. I prefer getting the lamb arm chop cut from New Seasons Market. It usually costs around $6 and I usually cut in in half for two different meals. If I am feeling the need for a re-feed I will eat the entire thing though!

As you can see from the picture above, the bone is full of delicious bone marrow! Growing up I would have avoided this like the plague, but now that I eat Paleo I know better and love "God's Butter".

This is a sample paleo meal that I would use post workout. Plenty of protein and carbs to refuel, plus some veggies for the bonus nutrition.

The recipe is pretty simple, here it is;

Pasture Raised Eggs Vs Conventional Eggs - Is it worth it?

Pasture Raised Eggs
Pasture Raised Vs. Conventional Eggs. Is it worth the extra $$?

Pasture Raised Chickens in Nature
I just spent $8 on a dozen of eggs. Crazy, I know. A few years ago I would have thought it was Ludacris. But now I know better.

Now I am beginning understand the pasture, where in nature cows and chickens have found a way to live in harmony in a sustainable fashion.

The reason I am happy to spend $8 on a carton of eggs is because I realize how beneficial true pasture raised eggs can be. Now I know that 1+1=3 is possible in nature when there is synergy involved.

Eggs that cost $1 or $2 dollars at the market simply won’t give you the same benefits because they are made from different nutrients themselves! If it weren't for pasture raised eggs, I wouldn't eat eggs at all.

Here’s why.

New Seasons Market Grass Fed Beef Non-sense! (Whole Foods Too!)

  Vegetarian Fed Beef = Grass Fed Beef? Wait, What???

Grass Fed Beef New Seasons Market
New Seasons Market
I’m pissed. The last two times I’ve visited New Seasons Market to pick up some quality flesh (Grass Fed Beef) I have left empty-handed. I eat Paleo and depend on these organic markets to provide healthy food in an ethical way. I spend more money on quality foods because besides my conscience mind, my “body temple” is the one thing nobody can take from me while I am still breathing.

“Humanely raised, vegetarian fed and grown without the use of
antibiotics or growth hormones” is the advertisement I always see when I enter New Seasons Market for their “Country Natural Beef”.

“We’re not hurting the land; we’re working with it” claims Connie Hatfield from CNB. Hell yes, I am down with that. But hold on a minute I came here for grass fed beef...

I am 100% for preservation and happy cows (and dogs everywhere), however are we really getting the whole picture? While I know Country Natural Beef and New Seasons Market is definitely a step in the right direction, I’m not sure we are getting the entire story here.
